I will never understand why people take their talent and then create something with such temporary media. This should have been done in tiles as a mosaic that would last for years. What’s with the red & blue patch thingy in the middle? Other than that being there, the artist did a wonderful job replicating the Mona Lisa.
I was more concerned about food wastage when I first saw it. But I guess all artists have their quirks 🙂 The toast is treated with some sort of chemical so the installations last for quite a while. I think the first installation was with Mona Lisa holding a ice cream cone, and after a while, they changed it to a glass of wine – that’s the red and blue patch!
Yesterday I viewed a post that featured mosaics created with dyed eggshells. Today, the Mona Lisa in bread! Kudos to the artists for their originality and dedication….that had to have been alot of work….and bread. 🙂
A dyed eggshells installation sounds interesting 🙂 You’re right about the dedication – I can’t imagine the amount of effort that must have gone into making sure the color tones were just right!
Stunning! It made me of think of the sand artwork. Only there for a while but well, that is how life is. We must enjoy and savour it while it last. 🙂
You’re right! It’s a glass of wine. She held a ice cream cone when the piece was first installed. I was thinking it would be quite funny if they made her hold a piece of toast! 😀
Toast? TOAST?
Amazing! Most amazing of all, the artist coming to think of it.
(You think he/she was sitting one morning munching away on a slice and suddenly thought of the Mona LIsa?????)
Yup, toast! 🙂 If I remember correctly, the artist used to run a supermarket chain and he was inspired after seeing the large amount of stale bread go to waste. It’s amazing how moments of inspiration strike.

That is just crazy. Great shots for arrange.
I know! 🙂 Thanks for the visit and comment.
Toast? You mean, bread.
Incredible!
Yup, bread 🙂 I did a double take when I first saw the installation.
I agree with Orples – such a shame it won’t last. And then I was thinking … how many jars of peanut butter for all those slices!
Don’t forget the marmalade! 🙂

Couldn’t agree with you more! Thanks for the visit and lovely comment 🙂
Brilliant! Could go into a high brow discussion of the temporal meaning of installation art, but…this is just cool.
Thanks for the visit and lovely comment 🙂
Fantastic! Lovely shots and fantastic installation! 🙂
Thanks! Appreciate the kind words 🙂
It’s hard to believe that those are pieces of toast. Cool!
Haha I know 🙂 I went up to take a closer look cos I couldn’t believe someone would take all that effort with bread!
Wow – what an arrangement! Great post for this weeks theme.
Thanks Doris for the visit and the lovely comment! 🙂
It’s amazing what people will do.

Which makes interesting installations for the rest of us I guess 😀
Spot on!
Thanks! Appreciate the visit and comment 🙂
Great for arranged Happysherlock! Is that a glass of wine the Mona Lisa is enjoying? Toast?

Great artwork!
Thanks for the visit and comment! 🙂
That picture is pan-tastic.
(Okay, here in Lima, where Spanish is spoken, that pun would kill.)
LOL! Thanks for the visit and the laugh 🙂
Wow! This is brilliant! I can only guess that the red color on the wine glass is made up on toasts with strawberry jam on it? Haha!
Thanks Gracie! Jam would be yummy 🙂 But I read it’s supposed to be with a blowtorch. And I assume paint?
oh wow, how unbelievable is this! so unique – and just right for this challenge.
thanks for sharing.
Thanks Kris for the visit and lovely comment! 🙂
