Death by chocolate

If you ask me what was the highlight of our KL trip, this would be it.

The Godiva Cafe * cue choir of angels *

The thirty minutes I spent in the cafe was pure decadent bliss.  Those short thirty minutes trumped the twelve pairs of gorgeous shoes I lugged back in my luggage.  Hands down.  No fight.

The Godiva Chocolatier Cafe is located in the upmarket Pavilion Mall, and is one of the few Godiva Cafes in Asia.  On top of the usual selection of chocolates, the cafe boasts of a heavenly selection of Godiva chocolate cakes.

Our stop at the cafe was fuelled by pure greed.  Already stuffed from a heavy dinner, we ignored the rumbling protests from our overworked stomachs and went ahead with a slice of cake each.  Who shares chocolate cake? Especially a Godiva chocolate cake?  Not me.

The Hubs ordered the Godiva Dark Chocolate Cake – an exquisite layering of chocolate mousse, cream and fudge, topped with a dark chocolate truffle.  It all came together perfectly and each mouthful of chocolate was smooth, intense and oh-so-rich.  This was THE chocolate cake.

Ha! But the chocolate cake came nowhere near my choice of the Godiva Baked Chocolate Tart topped with Ganache.  My friends, this tart ROCKED MY WORLD.  The tart shell was well done – not too buttery nor dry.  But it was the dark chocolate ganache that took my breath away.  It was simply divine with the right amount of the bitter sweetness of dark chocolate.  An absolute treat for dark chocolate fans.

The Godiva Cafe is a must-vist for any chocolate lover.  Priced at RM17 (about S$8) per slice, it's really a steal considering the amount of Godiva chocolate they pack into each piece of dessert.  My only regret was we didn't manage to finish the chocolate cake.  We tried our best but with our bellies filled to the brim, I felt I had chocolate coming out of my ears.  If only I had more time.  We had made a mad dash for the cafe's last order at 9.30pm, and with the cafe closing at 10pm, I only had half an hour to savour the sweet sweet sweetness of our desserts.  By the time we were done, I was practically in a chocolate coma.  Absolutely worth every single calorie.
