I’m going to try to be a little bit more detailed in my Tokyo posts since I had benefited a great deal from blogs and online forums when doing research for this trip.
First up – our base in Tokyo. Since we were going to spend all 4 days in Tokyo and move around solely by trains, I wanted a hotel that was centrally located and near a train station. Hotel Century Southern Tower was a great choice. Located right above the Shinjuku station – the busiest train station in the world – it made moving around Tokyo super easy. The Narita Express from the airport stops directly at Shinjuku station and from there, it was a comfortable 3-minute walk to the hotel. All major lines pass through Shinjuku so no problems getting around Tokyo. If you want the subway stations, they’re about a 10-min walk from the hotel. Rooms and bathrooms are fairly big – rare in Tokyo. And because the hotel lobby is already on the 20th floor, rooms have a great view of the Tokyo skyline.
The hotel is also located right smack in the middle of restaurants and shopping malls. It is directly opposite Takashimaya and Tokyu Hands (linked by a pedestrian bridge) and a 5 – 10 minute walk to Isetan, Forever 21, H&M. Highly recommended.
Directions: Get out through the Southern Terrace Exit (this is not the same as the South exit). Walk past Starbucks and Krispy Kreme. The hotel entrance is directly opposite Franc Franc (a great designer lifestyle store which I absolutely adore!). Once inside the building, turn right and take the lift to the lobby located on the 20th floor. Check in – 2pm/Check out – 12pm
