Weekly Photo Challenge: Hope

. It is human nature to wish and hope for good things to come .

“Omikuji are fortune telling paper slips found at many shrines andΒ temples in Japan. Randomly drawn, they contain predictions ranging from daikichi (“great good luck”) to daikyo (“great bad luck”). By tying the piece of paper around a tree’s branch, good fortune will come true or bad fortune can be averted.”

  1. I like the idea of tying a piece of paper on a tree for good luck…that plus the lucky dragon year…it’s going to be a lucky 2012….I’m going to try in this week. Thanks.

    1. That must have been an interesting sight! The one we visited only had a couple of lonely pieces tied to the trees, prompting us to think that those were the ones with bad fortune πŸ™‚
