We usually head down to Haji Lane when we get bored of shopping downtown. This tiny lane doesn’t seem much at first. In fact, you’ll most likely walk past it, mistaking it for any alley of old shophouses. Take a closer look and you’ll soon start to appreciate the colourful windows, creative art murals on the walls and electic mix of shops selling home finishings, clothes by local designers and little knick knacks.
Walking around Haji Lane is always fun even when you’re just there to window shop. There’s a very laid back quirky charm to the whole place. Many of the boutiques can be found on the second floor of the shophouses, and I love going up the steep, creaky stairs to discover pretty dresses and unique designs. Plus I love how you can always count on finding a friendly resident cat in these shops who will come up to you looking for a pet.
