With The Hubs furiously mugging for his exams these past 2 weeks, we found ourselves once again among musty reference books and the familiar warmth of the photostating room in the Lee Kong Chien library. It felt just like the good ‘ol undergrad days. Except now, the library downtown is so much nicer, the kids all have their own laptops and the photostating machines accept ezlink cards. Of course, we’re also very much older. And we’ve gone from two clueless kids to two people pretending to be adults and playing house. As I look back on the years, I see that we’ve somehow learnt to work around each other’s quirks and idiosyncracies to build a life together. 14 years on, while some things may have changed, it’s nice to know we still find each other to be perfect company in the cold, quiet confines of a reference library.
