Worth a thousand words

This is the spectacular view of Mt Batur from the town of Kintamani, Bali.  We were blessed with clear skies (no fog!)  and the sight of the volcano and lake was breathtakingly beautiful.  It actually reminded me a wee bit of New Zealand.

The drive to Kintamani is about an hour from Ubud but I guess we didn’t feel it because we visited a couple of temples along the way.  If you’re planning to visit Kintamani, try to arrive there in time for lunch.  The restaurants offer a fantastic view of the volcano, and if you arrive slightly earlier than the lunch crowd, you get a table with a view to die for.  This way you get to enjoy the view over a leisurely lunch instead of just stopping for the obligatory photo stop.
