I have a really high tolerance for mess. So long as the house is in a pretty reasonable state, the floors can go unmopped for weeks for all I care. Our motto is better happy weekends than stressed out people living in a pristine house. But everyone has their quirks. I can live with windows that have never been washed since we moved in 5 years ago (hey, no judging!) but soap scum on my shower door drives me crazy. I rinse out the shower area after every shower but it still keeps building up. So I end up on my knees every couple weeks scrubbing out the shower doors. For those of you who do your own housework, you’ll know that soap scum is a real pain in the ass and very difficult to remove. Not fun at all. After years of battling scum, this weekend I found a much easier way to get rid of them. The best part is: there’s no need to breath in harsh chemical fumes anymore because all I need is water! And a melamine sponge!! Simply wet the sponge with water and rub it effortlessly across grime, dirt and yes, soap scum. It is free of harmful chemicals, environmentally friendly and safe for your hands and skin. And they only cost $2! Man, I wish I discovered this so much earlier. I know this is a lot of excitement over a silly piece of sponge but I always say find good things must share. Don’t take my word for it. Look at the picture below.
And since, the camera was already out. Here’s what the sponge looks like. Available at your neighbourhood shops and Daiso.
